Visit Your Local Farmers Market

Buying in-season produce that’s grown locally is good for your waistline, your wallet and your community! And now that the weather’s warming up, it’s time to get out and enjoy all of the fresh food that our local farmers markets have to offer! All of these open air markets sell home-grown, home-made or or home-baked goods produced by our local farmers:

Year-round sales are permitted at the Fredericksburg Farmers Market located around Hurkamp Park (the Prince Edward and Prince George's Street sides), although most vendors participate during the peak growing season of April through October. All of the products are required to be grown or produced by the farmers and generally include: vegetables, fruits, meats, cheeses, breads, baked goods, plants, flowers, dried flowers and herbs. This market is open Monday through Saturday 7am- 6pm and Sunday 12:30-4pm. While it is open all day, most farmers leave by 2:00pm or whenever they have sold their inventory. Check out their website for more info.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Farmers Markets runs in Spotsylvania from the last Saturday in April through October. They feature locally grown products and baked goods at two locations. Shop every Saturday from 8am-1pm at the parking lot of the Holbert Building in the Courthouse area, or the commuter lot at the intersection of Rt. 3 and Gordon Road. The Courthouse location also offers the market on Wednedays from 1-5pm. Check out their website for more info.

C&T Produce Market, at the intersection of Ferry Road and Rt. 218/White Oak Road in Stafford, offers fresh, locally-grown Stafford produce, available April through Christmas. This fresh-air market stand offers everything from berries and hanging baskets, to corn and tomatoes, to pumpkins, mums and Christmas trees. Check out their website for more info. Open 10am-6pm, Mon-Sun (Apr-Dec)

North Stafford also offers a farmers market at the commuter lot behind McDonalds and Hardees on Staffordsborough Boulevard on Saturdays from 7am-3pm and Sundays from 10am-3pm.
