Public Field Day

To celebrate the selection of Crow's Nest as a 2010 Virginia Governor's Environmental Excellence Award Gold Medal winner, recognized as the top preservation effort in the Land Conservation, the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will open the park to the public for one day only, May 1, 2010.
Crow's Nest Natural Preserve encompasses more than 2800 acres of wetlands and forests between the Potomac and Accokeek Creeks and provides habitat for nesting bald eagles, migratory birds, and spawning and feeding habitats for fish and shellfish. The field day on May 1 begins at 9:30a.m. and will include guided hikes and historical interpretations. Reservations are required, are first-come/first-served, and can be made by calling 804-786-7951 beginning Monday, April 12 at 8 a.m.
