Visit the
Motts Run Nature Center
Open weekends from April through October
Saturdays and Sundays, Noon - 5 pm
This 860-acre natural area including the 160-acre reservoir, is a haven for fishing, boating canoeing, hiking and picnicking. The Nature Center features hands-on exhibits, field guides, maps, compasses, and no visit would be complete without saying hello to "Pocket" the corn snake!
Afterwards, have a picnic lunch and then head off on one of the hiking trails. A popular one is the Motts Run Orienteering Course. Learning to use a map and compass together can be a challenge and also a thrilling experience. Our orienteering course seeks to be very user friendly, and if done successfully will provide great exercise and fun for the entire family. This course was designed and built as an Eagle Scout Service Project by Zach Bailey (Troop 179) in the summer of 2003.
The course is designed for individuals or groups. Maps and compasses are available for checkout from the Motts Run Nature Center or you may print out maps from their website. Note: The terrain is hilly throughout and requires moderate exercise to navigate.
