Thunder for the Cause is a multi purpose event which will honor our Military, its Veterans, and to raise money for Childhelp, Some Gave All and the American Legion Riders. Our goal is to make this an annual nationwide event while giving the participants of Rolling Thunder a place to camp, relax, enjoy a variety of entertainment as well as giving our local residents a weekend of fun filled events without having to travel. We can sum up the atmosphere for the weekend: "It's a little bit Daytona, a little bit of Myrtle Beach, a little bit of Sturgis and a whole lot of down home fun here in the 'BURG!!" Hosting Friday and Saturday events will be American Motorcycle Icon Michele Smith. Sponsors and vendors are still needed for this event.

Our YMCA is hosting a very special event for Father/Daughters and Mother/Sons: The Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Dance on 11 and 12 May from 7:00-9:00 pm. This will be first one in our area and will be our YMCA’s 1st Annual Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Dance. Doors will open at 6:30 for professional pictures and packages will be available for purchase that night. Activities will include a DJ, refreshments, music, games, dancing, a craft contest, and lots more fun! A Silent Auction that will start in mid-April will end the night of May 12th at the event. Grandparents can substitute for the parents or come along with the parent and their child/children. $35/couple and $15 for each additional child or grandparent. Registration can be done at any of our YMCA or by calling me (VISA or MC) at 540/371-9622, ext. 1016.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Jay Massad Support Campaign which helps provide financial assistance to children in our before/after school childcare program, our YMCA Summer Camp programs, our sports and swimming lessons, our special needs programs, our senior therapeutic programs, and to help other Non-Profit Groups in the Fredericksburg area.
